Big Maps: Native American Culture Groups and Substance Areas
As of now, our main focus in History class is the Colonization within North America between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Our class were assigned a project to show all of the key aspects of this very broad topic. My group, consisting of four of my classmates along with myself, were assigned to make a map of the Native American culture groups and the substance areas during the 1700s. The purpose of this map was to show all of the different Native American tribes throughout North America as well as the abundances of goods for each region.
Overview Paragraph:
The topic our group had for our map was the Native American culture groups and the substance areas during the 1700s. I see that there were several more tribes along the coasts of North America in comparison to the locations of the other tribes; it means that most tribes wished to settle along the coasts because of the natural abundance of certain goods such as fish. I see that a vast majority of the tribes decided to settle in the lower parts of North America rather than what is present day Canada; it means that tribes wanted to settle in warmer climates because it was easier to naturally grow certain crops and it was harder to let the tribe flourish in such low temperatures. I see that there is a abundance of Maize in the majority of Mexico and the East coast of North America; it means that due to the natural excess of Maize most tribes decided to settle there. Finally, I see that the most tribes live along the West coast of North America; it means that most tribes' idea of a perfect place to settle included a(n) abundance of several goods.
